Rockin’ Mama

When I was eighteen, I got pregnant with my daughter. While I was still with her dad until she reached 6 months, he was on drugs and completely unsupportive. I started attending the Young Women’s Resource Center’s Young Moms group at my high school then transitioned to the programs offered on-site after graduating.  I participated in the programs that the YWRC offered for four years, until I turned 22 years old. Before leaving, I got pregnant with my first son and received doula services through the YWRC.

I met so many life-long friends through the Young Moms group, summer camps, car seat classes, Parents as Teachers training and YWRC staff. During the four years that I was involved with YWRC, I transitioned from desperately needing the support that was offered by them through their many programs to being a super independent and empowered woman!

Now, I am 31 years old and rocking motherhood to a 12 year old daughter (who is also currently being empowered by the YWRC) and two sons. I also have an step-daughter and two step-sons who I care for as my own. I have an Associates in Science Degree in human services and a Bachelors Degree in liberal arts with an emphasis in Sociology.

My fiancé is a roofer and certified diesel mechanic, and I stay home. I also recently started my own business as an independent consultant for Jamberry Nails. This allows me to provide the extra attention necessary to our two special needs children and avoid high daycare costs. I am so happy to be in a position where I can help contribute to the programs at the Young Women’s Resource Center that helped me so much before. For my first Jamberry Nails event, I have decided to offer 10% of all sales to YWRC, and I will match that 10% once the fundraiser reaches $500.

You can support my fundraiser by visiting my website, realrockinwraps.jamberrynails.net and click on “connect with me”. I have also created a Facebook event for this fundraiser, and will be  hosting games for prizes and fun on March 28th.
